Looking for something in my style (can be from any collection), but can’t find the perfect piece from my available work? Maybe you need a specific size or color story to best fit your space? I am happy to work with you to create a piece that is just right.  Here’s how it works.

About the Process

  • Commissioning a custom piece is a journey for the both of us. I like to have an in depth conversation about your ideas, whether we do this over the phone, zoom, or a studio or home visit, in order to ensure we are on the same page about the commissioned work.  Once you determine the general size of the piece, we will discuss subject matter, substrate, etc., and I will provide you with a price quote. I will provide a written contract for client to sign, detailing our agreed upon decisions and lead time. I ask for 50% non-refundable deposit before beginning work on the piece, and 50% payment upon final approval, prior to shipping.

Questions to think about

  • Where do you want this painting to hang?

  • Do you envision this painting hanging horizontally or vertically?

  • Do you know the approximate size of the painting you need? If you’re not sure, I can give you my advice and some tips to determine best size for your space.

  • What style/collections of mine are you drawn to? What specific pieces?

  • What draws you to those works?  It might be subject matter, color palette, style, mood, specific details, etc.

Common Questions

  • How long does it take to create a painting - what is the lead time?
I usually budget 6 to 8 weeks per commission, but this may vary depending on size of the painting.

  • How does payment work?
Once the price is determined, a 50% deposit is required before I start work on the piece. I accept payment via credit card or Venmo.  An invoice will be e-mailed to you and you can pay online with a credit card or via Venmo.  I also accept personal checks if you’d rather use snail mail.  Final payment is due once the painting is complete, and prior to shipment.

  • Do you ship or deliver?
Yes. There is an additional cost for shipping that is not included in the commission price.
For orders over $2000 local delivery is complimentary if within Kitsap Peninsula or Seattle metro area. For orders under $2000, local delivery is available to the Seattle/Kitsap area for a small fee (dependent on drive/ferry route).  Pickup from studio is also an option.

  • Do you accept changes/edits or feedback during the painting process?

Yes, I will send you one progress update and allow you to request one change whether it be in color, composition, etc.

  • Do you hang or install the painting?
No, but the work will arrive wired and ready to hang.
